  • Exploring Royal Tombs of Imogiri: this place is famous for pilgrimage and meditation. Located 12 km from Yogyakarta City’s center, this place offers a wonderful place to learn about Mataram kingdom’s history and culture, and also to see great sceneries. To reach the tomb complex, you have to climb almost 345 stairs. There is a fish pond at the end of the numerous stairs. At the left of the pond are the tombs for Sultans of Surakarta, while at right side are the tombs for Sultans of Yogyakarta. There is a registration before you enter the tombs. Another requirement before entering the tombs, is wearing traditional dress that can be rent for a reasonable cost.
